Our treatments are designed to help you get out of pain, move more freely and reach your full potential. Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a specialised form of physical therapy delivered with the hands as opposed to a device or machine.

In manual therapy, physiotherapists use their hands to apply pressure on muscle tissue and joints in order to decrease and restore function.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine originating in China over 3000 years ago.

In traditional Chinese theory the body’s energies stagnate when there is a problem. Stimulation of the energy by therapy needles frees the flow and helps the body to restore itself to a healthy state.

Research shows that the treatment causes the release of natural pain relieving chemicals stored in the brain (endorphins). These chemicals assist the body in its healing process as well as providing pain relief.

Soft Tissue Manipulation and Physiotherapy Services

Soft Tissue Mobilisation

Soft tissue mobilisation is a general term used to describe different forms of massage therapy. Physiotherapists will use manual techniques to affect muscles and other soft tissues. Soft tissue mobilisation is used to relax muscles, promote healing and breakdown scar tissue.

Soft tissue mobilisation works by mobilising muscles and therefore breaking up scar tissue. The mobilisations also help to remove waste products from the damaged area which increases the speed of the healing process. Soft tissue mobilisation also helps to release the tension in the muscle which increases flexibility and range of movement.

Post Operative Rehabilitation

Whether you’re recovering from a joint replacement or you’ve had a rotator cuff repair, from knee surgery to spinal surgery we can help you with your recovery from surgery back to full health.

Having worked in local NHS services for many years all the staff at Physio Môn continue to have close working relationships with the local orthopaedic surgeons and an extensive knowledge of the post operative protocols involved. We can tailor a treatment plan for you to get the most out of your recovery.

Taping

Taping or strapping is a technique used by physiotherapists for injury prevention or rehabilitation. The Physio Môn team are fully trained in how to apply effective taping depending on your goals of treatment.

We can also teach you how to apply the tape yourself so you can continue to experience the benefit.

Chronic Pain Management

Chronic pain is pain that is ongoing, has usually lasted six months or more and persisted beyond the time it takes for any initial injury to have healed.

The Physio Môn team can help you to understand more about pain itself, what is causing it and how to deal with it. We can teach you ways to reduce and manage your pain on a day to day basis. This will allow you to take control and learn strategies to try and improve independence and quality of life.

Our goal is to promote self management and to get you to a point that you can manage your own symptoms without needing regular appointments.

Personalised Exercise Programmes

At Physio Môn we have state of the art exercise software meaning we can design bespoke Personalised Exercise Programmes to meet our patients needs, whether that is to reduce pain, get stronger, or increase range of movement in a particular joint. These exercise programmes can then be printed for you to take away with you after your session or can even be emailed to you – complete with instructional videos so you know exactly what to do to help achieve your goals.

Occupational Health & DSE Workstation Assessments

As a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Health and Ergonomics, ACPOHE, we are specialists in providing Occupational Health physiotherapy – we currently already have contracts with some large local employers offering fast, effective physiotherapy solutions to keep staff in employment. If you are an employer and wish to discuss how we can help you please email Esther on physiomon@gmail.com. We are also able to provide DSE workstation assessments in your place of work, whether that be home office or in the workplace, this includes a full written report with recommendations for appropriate equipment.
