Môn Walkers

Here at Physio Môn we’re not just a physiotherapy clinic, we are committed to making a difference in the community. Esther set up Môn Walkers in 2018 as a way of encouraging people to get out walking and meeting new people. Walking is such a good exercise and just 30 minutes of walking a day has been shown to have many health benefits, for both mental and physical well being.

The aim of Môn Walkers is to provide free, short, achievable walks for local people to get out and enjoy – soaking up the amazing scenery Anglesey has to offer – and improving health and fitness at the same time! It’s proved really popular and we even developed our own Môn Walkers clothing line!

Our walks are usually circular and around two and a half to three miles in duration, lasting about an hour. We stick to this length each time to keep them accessible to most people. They usually take place on Tuesday evenings from Spring until Autumn and average around 35 – 40 people each week. We welcome well behaved dogs on leads and our walks are always lots of fun!

In 2020 we weren’t able to do any of our group walks due to the COVID pandemic but continued with our ‘virtual walking club’ on our dedicated Môn Walkers Facebook group page where we run regular challenges and walking fundraisers for local charities. In 2021 we were able to return to group walks and enjoyed many walks in Aberffraw, Newborough, Llanddwyn and Pentraeth to name a few. Our charity fundraisers have seen us raise over £3000 to date and Esther even received a Hidden Heroes award due to the achievements of the walking group, having been nominated by many members of the group.

Môn Walkers is open to anyone, you don’t have to have been a patient at the clinic to join in.
